Summer Fitness on the Esplanade a Smashing Success | The Back ...

Sunset Yoga.

Strolling through the Esplanade these past few weeks, one might have noticed masses of people dancing to Latin beats or finding peace along the banks of the Charles. The Esplanade Association?s (TEA) Healthy, Fit & Fun program series, which kicked-off on July 9th, has attracted well over 1,000 people to the Esplanade looking to participate in the park friends group?s free fitness classes. During the first week alone, close to 600 people participated in at least one program during the week, be it a Community Run, Zumba, Sunset Yoga, Boot Camp or Gentle Flow Yoga. TEA is pleased that so many people from Boston and the surrounding communities are coming to the Esplanade to support their health and fitness

?The outdoor fitness classes have been great,? says Christina Rios, who has participated in Zumba, Sunset Yoga and Boot Camp. ?I have the opportunity to try out new ways of being active with the awesome trainers and teachers for free, AND I can enjoy the Esplanade. I look forward to it every week!?

TEA is encouraged by the large turnouts that continue to grow each week, proving that there is a need for these types of programs, especially at a time when people are looking for ways to save money. Additionally, it is apparent that there is a desire to utilize our precious green spaces for these activities.

Healthy, Fit and Fun is made possible because of the generous support of wonderful community partners including: Boston Sports Clubs, Equinox, Exhale Spa, Healthworks, OMBE Boston, Social Boston Sports, and The Sports Club/LA. Each partner is committed to this initiative, providing professional instructors and encouraging more people to get outdoors and take advantage of these free programs. In addition, our programs are sponsored by Vita Coco, Popchips and TipTap who help people stay hydrated, energized and connected.

Healthy, Fit and Fun classes are free and open to the public and continue until August 31st. For a complete program schedule, class descriptions and directions, please visit www.esplanadeassociation.org .
