But, for many many years automotive artwork was the item of style studies, style departments of auto companies, or aligned with automotive promoting. But in 1978 he changed from commercial illustration to historical artwork. In 1997, Dietz won the Stanley Wanlass Award for ?excellence in strength of style and composition echoing the spirit for the automobile? on the Meadow Brook Concours d?Elegance. He also won a Peter Helck Award in 1999 and 2,000 on the Pebble Beach Concours? d?Elegance.
